                                  Transistor radios

The transistor radio, for its size and ease of use is certainly one of the most attractive items to create a small collection.
During my travels and visiting markets, I found a lot of transistor radios of different brands and models. I liked to keep them as souvenirs, so I made this modest but pleasant collection.
Transistor was invented in 1947 in U.S.A. by William Bradford Shockley, John Bardeen and Walter Houser Brattain.

The first transistor radio for civilian use was produced in U.S.A. in 1954.

The first Italian transistor radio was produced in 1957.

The first silicon transistor was carried out by Texas Instruments in 1954 and for many years it was used only for military purpose.
