It’s the first radio phonograph produced by Radiomarelli.
The inside of the cabinet is divided into two separate areas: the
upper zone contains the radio
frequency chassis, the lower zone contains the low frequency unit.
The low frequency unit chassis includes the amplifier, the power
supply and the speaker.
The two chassis, which include also the speaker, were purchased from
the American Bosch while the cabinet was made in Italy.
Chiliofono was produced in many versions, all with the same chassis but
with different cabinets. Some versions have the classic front side
with the exposed controls, others, as in this case, have two sliding
doors in front of the controls.
This model can receive only the
medium waves and works with direct amplification coupled cascade stage circuits.
The low frequency amplifier is a push pull arrangement.
The turntable, which works only
78 laps, has the pick-up
with the interchangeable pin system, like a gramophone.
The electric motor is a Paillard and the arm, in this case, is
manufactured by Safar. A Radiomarelli manufactured arm was used in
other radio like this.
