Calipso, for its design, is certainly one of the most extravagant radios, moreover is one of the most rare Radiomarelli radio phonograph.
It’s a superheterodyne set and the R.F stage works with a pentode tube (type 58) which has two functions: oscillator and converter.
This radio was designed and manufactured completely in Radiomarelli factory (Milan) and, this first version, works in medium waves only.

The turntable, which works only 78 laps, has the pick-up with the interchangeable pin system, like a gramophone. Arm and platen are manufactured  by Radiomarelli,  the electric motor is branded Magneti Marelli.
